Praise the Lord, Everyone!
I would like to share an important message with you today. Many young people are experiencing delays in marriage. Some are not receiving proposals, while others choose not to marry. What is happening?
I want to share with you the voice of God on this matter. Please read this blog from start to finish.
Marriage is a Blessing
The Bible declares that marriage is a blessing. If marriage is meant to be a blessing, why do some people experience it as a struggle? There are several reasons for this, which I have observed over the past six years. Let's explore what the Word of God says about marriage.
Marriage should be regarded with honor and respect. It is a holy union designed by God.
Marriage is God's Idea
Marriage is not a human invention; it was created by God. Some people misunderstand Paul's writings and believe they should remain single. However, Paul presented two perspectives:
- Marriage is good – It is a blessing and a divine institution.
- Singleness is also good – If someone chooses to remain single, that is acceptable too.
However, God never commanded anyone to remain single. It is a personal choice, dependent on one's calling and God's will for their life.
What the Bible Says About Marriage
The Bible speaks about a blessed spouse. Finding a godly life partner is a great gift. There are promises in Scripture concerning families, husbands, wives, and children. This proves that God takes marriage seriously—it is not something to be taken lightly or dismissed.
Why is Your Marriage Delayed?
1. Don't Be Too Demanding
Many young people set unrealistic expectations for a spouse. They create strict criteria based on personal preferences rather than God's guidance. Instead of seeking a perfect partner, seek God's will for your life.
2. Ask for God's Will in Your Marriage
Do not make decisions based solely on personal desires. Seek God's direction and pray:
“Lord, fulfill Your will in my life. Show me whether I should say yes or no. My desire is one thing, but I trust in Your perfect plan.”
3. Stop Looking for Shortcomings
Many people delay marriage because they focus on flaws. They say:
- “His height isn't right.”
- “Her skin tone is not what I want.”
- “Their financial status doesn't match mine.”
Instead of seeking perfection, focus on godly character and values.
What to Look for in a Life Partner?
When choosing a spouse, consider the following:
- Do you genuinely like them?
- Are they living a pure and godly life?
- Are they a believer and a faithful servant of God?
- Do they share your faith and values?
Take time to pray, seek wisdom, and ensure alignment before making a decision.
Don't Rush Things
Marriage is one of life's biggest decisions. Before committing, take time to:
- Pray and fast for divine guidance.
- Have conversations to understand each other better.
- Evaluate their background, family, and lifestyle.
Why Are Many Relationships Breaking Today?
Many marriages fail because people rush into relationships. Some get married quickly, only to discover later that their spouse has major issues, such as alcoholism or financial instability.
My Advice:
- Don't trust anyone too quickly.
- Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
- Consult your pastor or spiritual mentor before deciding.
Conclusion
Now you understand some reasons why marriages are delayed. Be mature, pray fervently, fast, and seek God's direction. Marry within the faith—choose a godly Christian partner.
